Drug Treatment for Oxycodone Addiction

When people are involved in drug abuse, it’s common for them to deny that they have drugs addiction problem, especially if they’re using less dangerous and common drugs, such as oxycodone. That’s what they say. No wonder drug addicts often reject being treated at drug rehab center. It’s because they think they don’t have any problem at all. But all kinds of drug abuse, where the users use excessive amount of that drug to make themselves feel better and can’t live without the drug, is dangerous and deadly. Although the addicts claim that it’s not a dangerous substance – compared to heroin, weed, or cocaine – it’s still dangerous. There’s no such thing as safe drug; not if they’re using it on regular and daily basis.

One of the most common drug abusers is the oxycontin or oxycodone. The drug originally started as the regular painkiller, which is said to be less dangerous than heroine. But then people find out that the substance is able to give fun and relax feeling, besides relieving pain. And then they start to sell it and trade it. The drug has street name as Killer, OC, or Orange County. People who are addicted to it show different behavior such as being over defensive, have mood swings, become depressed, and become anti-social and withdraw from any social activities. They tend to use the drug with alcohol, which actually can present worse problem, such as death.

When the addicts start to get oxycontin addiction treatment at the rehab center, they would get detoxification treatment first so their system will be free from any dangerous substance. They would undergo therapies or counseling so they would understand why they’re trapped in the addiction from the first place. They would also be required to participate in activities so they’re shown that life is more than just drugs and getting high. They could do more and can be more useful; for themselves and others.
