Oral Health: Tips on Keeping Your Toothbrush Clean and Germ Free

Keeping your toothbrush clean and germ free is just as important as keeping your mouth clean because if your toothbrush is not clean how can your mouth be. When you expose it to air there’s a 100% chance it will contract germs especially while in the bathroom. Being exposed to germs can lead to illness and infections. Here are some tips that will help you to keep your mouth and your toothbrush cleaner.
Family Dollar and drugstores have toothbrush caps, they keep your bristle contain in a plastic lid that will protect them from debris and ugly germs that linger in restrooms. These provide ultimate protection so that you don’t have to worry about putting more bacteria into your mouth; in addition the mouth already carries enough of it. Before brushing your teeth always rinse your bristles off with hot water just before and after using it. The hot water kills germs and sterilizes them, make sure that after you brush your teeth there are no food particles or toothpaste still laying somewhere between the your brush.
Keep them away from the toilet, if your sink is near the toilet make sure to keep the toothbrushes on the opposite side of the sink. Placing them on the other side is very important it will prevent urine from splashing onto them, ewe! You don’t want to have urine breath (laughing) just kidding. Also put them inside of the medicine cabinet for added protection this will keep guest or family members from reaching over the toothbrushes. If they cannot fit inside the cabinet try the caps as a guard to maintain good oral health.
Free Dental Care ? A boon to the society

Humanitarian touch:
A dentist belongs to a noble profession. He should be aware of how the health of a community is measured, what factors influence and what the current health status is. The practice of dentistry should not be being curative and restorative alone but protecting and preventing also. Health is not an entity which can be transferred from one individual to another or from health services to the society. The individual must value health and make active efforts to remain healthy.
Aids for Oral Care:
Oral health forms a part of total health and if carried out, can assure better dental health. The advances made in science and technology will not have any effect unless the people are aware of what needs to be done to remain healthy. The aim of free dental care is to ensure that people are receptive and that services which are necessary are available and accessible.
Auditory aids, visual aids and combined audio visual aid are present for oral care. Properly organized and publicized health exhibitions attract large number of people. The advantage is that people can come across new ideas in oral health matter. The spoken word, the printed word and the pictorial presentation are used for establishing contact with the populace. Education of the population on dental diseases and their prevention is underway and we can expect to see a dentally literate and aware population, which would also encompass the rural sector.
Community: the needy and captive group
Free Dental Screening- Going back to grass roots dental care

Dental hygiene students from Southern Oklahoma Technology Center are organizing and helping run a full day of free dental service for children and young adults in need. Spearheaded by Amber McCabe, an OU dental hygiene senior at SOTC. The day of free dental care, to be run by 12 students and one dentist, will provide free service for 75 patients age 20 or younger, who do not have any dental coverage of their own.
Students organized the event as a way of giving back to their local community and though the school already encourages students to participate in many community service acts as part of their normal education curriculum, this event in particular was organized as an additional help to the local area. McCabe says that when she was growing up she was reliant upon Trinity health care and free programs for all of her own dental needs and felt she should “give something back”.
The day is scheduled to take place on November 21 and the dental hygiene program hopes to screen about 100 people by the end of the week to see if they qualify. If you think you may qualify or that you know someone who may qualify. Get in touch with the program immediately, to see if you can participate in the event. Remember, only individuals that have no health care plans of their own are able to participate as this is a free cleaning and checkup for children and young adults with no coverage only.
You can also keep up to speed on affordable or free dental care by checking in regularly at various websites such as www.getfreedental.com.If you feel that you do not qualify for this service at this time, or you may be unavailable at that date.
Cheap Dental Insurance – How to Get Free or Cut-price Dental Care

Those on tight budgets are used to cutting back on necessary expenditure, and certain costly activities, such as the monthly dental check-up, may fall by the wayside, at least until something goes wrong and can no longer be easily ignored. However, finding an affordable dental practitioner can be an extremely tricky business, especially for those on low incomes, the elderly, disabled and those without dental insurance and access to credit. The current economic climate, which has seen thousands lose their jobs-and their insurance-has exacerbated the problem.
Fortunately, there are a number of ways in which you can seek out cut-price, or even free dental care. One way is to contact the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), who sometimes look for volunteers to take part in clinical trials related to dental or oral conditions.
There are also programmes offered by many health and social service agencies that provide free dental treatments for stricken patients unable to meet the cost of treatment. The dental healthcare professionals that work in these programmes volunteer their time and services for free, and are fully qualified.
You can also look investigate options through the American Dental Association, who will have a complete list of all dental schools in the US. Often, dental schools, as well as teaching hospitals and local universities provide what is known as ‘sliding-scale services’. This means that treatment can be received for a much lower, reduced fee. Look also for local community options, as some dentists will provide cut-price services in your area, and will sometimes provide treatment for free. As previously mentioned , many dentists also donate their time and services through various organisations to provide low-cost or free dental care, so be sure to keep an eye out for any such events in your area. Organisations such as Dentistry From the Heart and the Mission of Mercy dental clinic provide such services-and often for free- to the unemployed and otherwise uninsured.
