10 Healthy Back Tips from Denver Chiropractors

  1. Exercise regularly
This does not have to be anything overly strenuous. A daily walk can make a huge difference. At the The Live Well center Denver chiropractor office we offer Pilates, which is an excellent source of exercise for anyone with back trouble. Yoga can also be a great form of exercise. Of course you should always consult with your chiropractor before intense exercise.
  2. Eat a healthy diet
Proper nutrients allow the body to repair itself easier. Denver chiropractor Rene Oubre offers healthy supplements as well as dietary consulting at The Live Well health center.
  3. Maintain good posture
Are you sitting up straight as you read this? Denver chiropractors at our health center have some excellent products to help our clients at The Denver Live well center.
  4. Stretch your spine before and after sport
This will also help to loosen up the surrounding muscles. For specific stretching exercises contact a chiropractor. Denver based Live Well Health Center can help you with a stretching routine.
  5. Don’t overload your backpack or purse
Remember to carry it over both shoulders to balance the load (if possible). It might look cool to have a backpack worn sideways, but you will feel much better carrying it properly.
  6. Stretch your legs and back after each hour of sitting
Whether in a car or at a desk, stretching regularly will help to keep you from tightening up or injuring yourself further.
  7. Never cradle the phone between your neck and shoulder.
There are some great corded and cordless options that will make talking on the phone hands free healthier.
  8. Sleep on your back or side, not on your stomach
This helps to keep your spine in line and reduces the risk of hurting your neck while you sleep. See #9…

10 Tips to Prevent Hair Loss

  1. Consider Propecia (Finasteride)- This tip is for men only because this medication is only recommended for use by men. Propecia blocks the production of a male hormone called DHT, which is the #1 culprit in causing male pattern baldness. This is a prescription medication with an excellent safety profile. It probably prevents about 85% of the hair loss that would have occurred had you not taken it. In addition, Propecia may result in the new growth of hair, particularly in the crown area of the head.
  2. Use Rogaine (Minoxidil)- Both men and women who have noticed their hair thinning can benefit from this. Rogaine is a topical medication which is available over the counter in drug stores. We are not quite sure how it works, but when used twice a day it results in much less hair loss and some re-growth of hair in the crown. Most men use the 5% foam and women tend to start with the 2% version. Minoxidil was once a high blood pressure medication, but doctors began noticing that patients who took it developed increased hair growth.
  3. Try the Laser Comb- Various wavelengths of laser light are known to stimulate hair growth. The FDA has approved several commercial laser applications and portable laser combs for home use. These devices can be used up to 3 times per week for 20 minutes and result in a mild but significant increase in hair density. The only problem with this treatment is compliance, meaning that they only work if you remember to regularly use them.
  4. Avoid Scalp Sunburn- burns are bad for our skin and bad for our hair. If your hair has thinned, more UV light is reaching your scalp and can potentially damage the hair follicles. If you plan to go out on a sunny day, wear a hat and in addition apply a spray sun block to the scalp with protection of SP15 or more.

Use These Body Building Tips to Increase Your Health!

Arnold Schwarzenegger was a fantastic body builder in his day but there is more to the sport than trying to make your body look like his. Most people think that body building is all about making your muscles obscenely large. The truth is that body building is far more about building your muscle strength and then using tone to create a “good looking” physique. It isn’t about “getting ripped.” It is about making your body healthier. If you are thinking about putting together a body building routine for yourself, here are some hints that will help you. Don’t ever forget that in body building your health comes first and your physique comes last.

Choose the right gym. Body building is not something that every gym is set up to offer. Before you decide which gym to join make sure you shop around. You want to find a gym that has regular body building clients and customers.

You also want to find a gym that has good lighting and is very clean. You should choose a gym that takes good care of its equipment (and that has equipment that is not always broken down). You want you gym to feel good to be in. Your gym membership won’t be any good to you if you don’t like the feeling you get when you work out there. This could put a major slow down on your body building efforts. You should work on each set of muscles in every workout. Do not focus on single muscle sets like arms, legs, shoulders or your cardiovascular system. All of these muscle groups are important and they need to be worked on during every exercise routine. If you only work on a single set of your muscles at a time, they will grow disproportionately to the rest of your muscles. This could leave you looking and feeling lopsided and out of whack. If you really want to stay healthy you need to make sure that you work on your entire body. All exercise and workout routines work this way. It is not limited to bodybuilding.
